As part of the revamping of DCA, Golden Dreams will be removed to make way for the long-awaited Little Mermaid Ride. It gets a brief mention on Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Dreams

I'm sad no new place could be found for Golden Dreams. I hope they at least release a DVD...it's really too well made of a film for a theme park. It's ambitious and beautifully done.

Thew bathrooms across from mermaid will be rather pretty. That is, unless they tear down the exsting SF structures.

Will they be, like, themed as a cave or something?

I'll miss golden dreams. I loved the movie and the history it contained. I love the theater in the animation building. It's too bad they didn't have a small theater where they could house different types of movies like that. Sort of like circle vision did. I miss that ride so much.

I agree. They could have easily found a great place for it, but they obviously have no interest in the California theme anymore.
What's even worse is that San Fransisco will never be properly represented in the park if the bathroom rumor is true. It's an amazing city and a great asset to the state. It's a travesty really.

I don't think the entire SF area will be a bathroom. That would just be ridiculous.

The space across from the existing rooms is not that much bigger than the restrooms themselves and if the move is to make the bathrooms bigger than it may just be that DCA will end up with the fanciest bathroom facade in any Disney park. If those shells stay at all...

My bet is eventually those bathroom fascades will be rethemed and we'll see a San Francisco type area in the last section of unused land. Maybe adjacent to the Wharf. Could be a nice transition.

Maybe Golden Dreams will be one of a couple of movies available in the new Walt Disney Story.

Actually dlfreak the empty buildings are bit bigger than the existing bathrooms. they also allow for better crowds control instead of having the small corner get crowded with people to enter the dual restroom facility.
when i had first heard of the rumor first thing i thought was that they were going to just move over the womens restrooms and expand the other restrooms to be all for men. guess i had misunderstood.
I did hear that the mermaid attraction is also suppose to take over a portion of the woodsy area next to the building.
but I think the idea of moving the restrooms is not so much about crowds and size but about being able to do something with the other buildings and then have more room for the mermaid attraction.
Nobody seems to know exactly what to do with the small empty buildings and moving the restrooms there opens up room at the opposite side.
here is an aerial photo i had modified a few weeks ago. i combined the artwork they released to kind of get an idea of the show building area

Nice! It's funny how they may be taking up more of the lagoon with this viewing area...you'd think they'e need more water space.

I would not be surprised if the SF shells come down and become a new bleed-through area of the coming gold panning area and the new Victorian mermaid.

With all due respect, you do not know that for a fact.
Though I agree. Golden Dreams was a very well done film.
But except for the projection effects, It was just a film, and as well done and dramatic as it was, people were losing interest in it. A film can be seen anywhere. It didn't have that "disney difference." Like for example, using animatronics in addition the to film aspect.

Man Ismael you always do the coolest things with aerial views. I love it. That picture got me so stoked. I have extremely high expectations for this ride.

The current restrooms are pretty cool too. Hopefully the new ones are an improvement on the old.
I'm excited to see the whole area transform!

The ride here is going to have some similarities to the ride that almost was, but it isn't going to be the same. Some different scenes, different ride vehicles, etc.

Looks like the ride building will take up alot of space inside DCA. Too bad they couldn't "Pirates" it. Imagine having the going under the water portion be a going under a perimeter of the park to the deeper basement level of the Grand Californian expansion. They could kill two birds with one stone and save alot of space inside the park.
It doesn't seem like there is enough space within DCA as it stands now. So much more could have been multitasked to make better use of spapce. GRR immediately comes to mind, for example.
